The Best Skor Chocolate Chip Cookies

Ok you guys, you are going to be so excited for this recipe, it will send you bouncing out of your computer chair as you read about these cookies. They are so spectacularly addicting. Your family is going to be begging you to make them all the time. And once you taste that warm, freshly baked cookie, you aren’t going to want to share any of them. I feel confident to say that these are the best cookies you will ever make. I have my loving mother to thank for sharing this fabulous recipe with me, which then I slightly tweaked. And now I so graciously share it with you, my pupils.

Ingredients

  • ·         2 cups and 2 tbsp of flour (all purpose)
  • ·         1 pinch of salt
  • ·         ½ tsp baking soda
  • ·         1 cup of salted butter
  • ·         1 cup and 2 tbsp packed brown sugar
  • ·         ½ cup granular sugar
  • ·         1 whole egg (room temperature)
  • ·         1 egg yolk (room temperature)
  • ·         1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • ·         ¾ cup skor bits
  • ·         ¾ cup chocolate chips (semisweet or milk chocolate)

Preparation

Preheat your oven to 325 degrees. And now the rest of the preparation is super easy. First, in a sauce pan, melt your butter over low to medium heat and mix in your brown and granular sugar. Once these ingredients are evenly combined, set the mixture aside and let it cool to room temperature.

Next, mix together your dry ingredients in one bowl. These ingredients will include your flour, baking soda and salt. Then, once the butter and sugar combination has cooled, fold in your eggs (both yolk and whole egg) and vanilla extract. And when these ingredients have been united, add them to your flour mixture.

Later, after mixing your dry ingredients with the wet ingredient concoction, you can fold in your chips! Whether you use milk chocolate or semi-sweet chocolate chips, either way your cookies will be melt in your mouth. And if you aren’t a chocolate lover (like my crazy husband), you can just incorporate more skor bits. The batter is a wonderful, universal dough that allows your creativity to run wild.

So, now your cookie dough is complete. This is when a lot of people like to put the dough in the fridge for approximately thirty minutes. However, I don’t usually do this because I want to eat the cookies AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!!! My mouth is always just watering with excitement as it waits for these treats. The reason behind letting the dough set in the fridge is to make it easier to scoop/form the cookies onto your cookie sheet. Fortunately, my determination never makes this technique a challenge.

Now you are ready to assemble the cookies on the tray. A good way to measure how big to make your cookie balls is to grab an ice cream scoop to form the dough. Then, you will want to lay each cookie about two to three inches apart. This is because they will expand quite a bit when they are baking and you want to make sure they don’t stick together when they are done.

Alright, bake these delicate babies in your hot oven for approximately 12 to 14 minutes, or until they no longer appear shiny. I love to have my cookies soft in the middle so I lean more toward the 12 minute mark. However, if you like your cookies to be crunchy you can bake them for 14 minutes instead. It really all depends on how your oven settings are for baking. Every oven is different, some are powerful and cook/bake extremely fast. Other ovens take longer to complete your recipes. As long as you keep a close eye on your treats, they will turn out amazing.

Taste Test

I am not joking you my friends, these will be some of the best cookies you ever make. When you bite into that warm, fresh cookie you will be filled with pure joy. The tastes you experience will be phenomenal. These cookies will awaken your senses, as you detect their buttery, caramelized goodness. As well as the melted, creamy, decadent bursts of chocolate. It is sweet, it is rich, it is pleasurable, and it is…paradise. My mouth juices are flowing right now just thinking about these delights. And whether you like them soft like me or crunchy like other people, you cannot go wrong with this recipe….unless you burn them of course… Anyways, in summary this is definitely a recipe you want to add to your baking menu. One that will please your friends and your family. And yourself...obviously.

Enjoy!
